Maine Radon & Environmental received a call from homeowners residing in South Portland, Maine, seeking assistance in evaluating the levels of radon in their home's air. Maine Radon & Environmental was hired to install a sub-membrane radon mitigation system in this complex house. This system installed included 10 mils clean space poly with wallie wall curtains fully sealed system. We installed 2 radon systems followed by a commercial Sanidry dehumidifier.

Before:
This home, built in 1959, had never been modernized and still reflected its original construction and layout. Like many older homes, it required extra care and planning to ensure a radon mitigation system could be installed without compromising the character of the property. The challenge was designing a solution that would work effectively while blending cleanly into an older structure.

After:
Despite the home’s age, we were able to complete a clean, professional radon air installation that looked intentional and well-finished. The system was carefully routed and installed to complement the existing structure, proving that even older, non-modernized homes can have effective radon protection without sacrificing appearance.

This client had a current radon system in his home installed several years ago. He contacted us to conduct a 2 years test. When this test was completed levels were 8.2pcil. This current system was not communication with the slab around the house. We gave this client a couple options on how to proceed. He went with our recommendation. We first conducted a communications test around the slab to determine how effective it would work. When core drilling we were able to hit the drainage tile and received great communication. A post test after our install put the radon level average at 0.3pcil !!

Before:

Jessi D.’s home in Falmouth, Maine tested at 3.9 pCi/L for radon air. While technically near the action level, Jessi wanted the levels brought even lower for added peace of mind. The basement layout presented a small routing challenge, with the available fan plug located near the sauna and across the room from the planned extraction points. The goal was to place the system as tight to the corner as possible without compromising performance.

We installed a radon mitigation system carefully positioned to maximize efficiency while fitting cleanly into the available corner space. Despite the distance between power and extraction points, the routing worked exactly as planned and the final installation looked sharp and professional.
