Radon Removal from Home | Portland, Maine

Before:

This Portland home required a radon air mitigation system, and the basement layout presented a few challenges. The sump needed to be properly sealed, and there was a nearby door that could have been affected by the sump lid if it wasn’t planned carefully. The goal was to improve safety without interfering with everyday use of the space or the home’s appearance.

After:
We installed a custom-sealed sump lid, carefully working around the nearby door so that it remained fully functional with no obstruction. The system was routed with precision, and the exterior piping was installed on a single level, giving the home a clean, balanced, and professional look.

The finished installation blended seamlessly with the structure, delivering effective radon mitigation while preserving both access and aesthetics. A smart solution, a clean finish, and another Portland home protected.

From 6.5 to Safe Levels: Thoughtful Radon Solution in Jay, ME

Sarah H. in Jay, Maine began the process after initial radon readings came in at 6.5 pCi/L, above the EPA recommended action level. To verify conditions, the homeowner completed additional charcoal testing and stayed in contact throughout the process so the right solution could be planned once final results were confirmed.

The installation was designed for the utility room, where special considerations were needed due to the home’s layout. Because the property has radiant floor heating, an infrared scan was used to help identify safe drilling locations and protect the heating system during installation. Additional planning was also required around the propane tank venting, ensuring the exhaust termination maintained the proper distance and safety clearances.

With the system professionally installed and configured for the space, the radon levels are now in a safe range and performing as intended.

Another Maine homeowner can now enjoy added peace of mind knowing the home has cleaner, safer air. If your property has radiant heat or unique installation challenges, Maine Radon & Water can design the right solution for your home.
