Radon install

Client was very happy with this radon install. This client had a current radon system that was working however not lowering the levels below 4.0. He then hired us and we started the job conducting a communication test. This test showed the current system was not communicating with the slab therefor not working as designed. We then conducted additional test and determined a new system was needed. After core drilling a hole we were able to hit the drainage tile. We then removed around 5 gallons of soil under the slab to ensure it would communicate. After the install we got the radon results down to 0.3. Needless to say the client was very happy.

ERV Installation in Summer Home

Our client has a summer home in Bailey Island and was struggling with a musty / stuffy aroma upon arriving for the season, or whenever the house was closed up for a few days. This, coupled with family members staying in the basement, led him to look for a creative solution for fresh air intake. He gave Maine Radon & Environmental a call and we came out to assess the situation. Due to the layout of the basement, we had to think outside the box because our regular ERV brands wouldn't fit. We came up with a Panasonic ERV that we were able to install in place of an old cabinet and run through the rear rim joist (above the drop ceiling!). We also navigated around radiant heat and gave him the fresh air he was looking for. This device can run at full speed and turn over all the air in the basement / first floor rapidly. Overall, our client was happy with the installation and will never have to smell that musty odor again!

Radon Mitigation - Utilized Pressure Field Extension Testing in Falmouth, Maine

The customer was purchasing a duplex with two units, both showing elevated radon air levels. He required the system installation before the early January closing to ensure the property's livability and safety. However, only one unit had a passive system in place.

Considering our high-quality materials, swift installation time, and positive reputation at his contractor's office, he leaned towards choosing our services.

Our team initiated a pressure field extension test, revealing slab communication. This allowed us to install a single system with the same effective results, saving the client both money and time.

This approach was distinctive because numerous other companies overlook pressure field extension testing to install the most efficient way.

The client was exceptionally pleased with the time and cost savings, expressing admiration for the completed project.

Radon Mitigation - Water Mitigation and RO System in Gray, Maine

The customer initially inquired about a quote for radon water mitigation and expressed interest in adding UV, enquiring about the associated cost. Their consideration was influenced by our diverse range of services beyond radon mitigation.

Having tested positive for high radon levels in water, the client sought mitigation. Our team installed the Accel-Aerator E99 Radon System, effectively reducing radon levels in water through an aerator system. The discharge occurred through the rim joist and above the roof line, utilizing a two-inch pipe, resulting in a 92-99% reduction in radon levels in well water. This unique system operates outside the home in the well, utilizing aeration to remove trapped gases from the water.

Notably, alongside the radon mitigation system, we also installed an existing manganese/iron dual-stage filter as requested by the client. The client was present during the entire installation process and expressed great satisfaction with the outcome.

Maine Radon & Water Treatment saves when others can't. - Water Filtration - Harpswell, Maine

A homeowner in Harpswell, Maine contacted Maine Radon and Water Treatment regarding water quality issues in their home, having previously installed systems from a reputable company. Despite multiple visits from service technicians, the problem persisted. Seeking alternatives, they received a quote from another company suggesting a complete overhaul, costing over $10,000. When our team arrived, we conducted free water tests before and after filtration and inspected the existing system.

Several issues were identified:

  • The sanitizer, requiring a pH level of at least 6.5, was installed first despite the raw water testing below 6.0, compromising the system's efficacy.
  • The two units were installed in the incorrect order.
  • Backwash systems were improperly connected, hindering proper cleaning.
  • Brine lines were contaminated with iron.
  • Injectors on the heads were severely clogged.

Our proposed solution included:

  • Reordering the systems to raise pH levels for proper sanitizer functionality.
  • Rebedding the sanitizer unit.
  • Adding additional air gaps and repiping units for independent backwashing with ¾-inch pipes.
  • Cleaning injectors and replacing brine lines.

This unique situation had stumped numerous companies, but Maine Radon & Water Treatment successfully resolved it, leaving the client extremely satisfied. Their water is now clear, and significant savings were achieved. Schedule your free site visit today for personalized solutions!

Air and Water Mitigation in a New Construction Home

Our client had recently moved into a new construction home in Casco, Maine. He was concerned about radon levels in the air and water, so he engaged Maine Radon & Water Treatment for testing. We conducted both tests and both came back extremely elevated: the air was at about 14pci/L and the water was at  18,000pci/L. The client knew he had a passive system installed by the builder, but we were unable to access the pipe in the attic, so we pivoted to a fully exterior system.

The client looked to us for advice and guidance throughout the process, and we were able to get both installations done in a timely manner and with great results. The post test for the air came back less than 1 and the water was at less than 1000pci/L. This project led to his neighbors, who recently had a baby, to test their house and become aware of the issue as well.

Safeguarding Their Future: Scarborough Homeowners Choose Maine Radon & Water Treatment for Indoor Air Quality Peace of Mind

Why They Needed Radon Mitigation:

A Scarborough homeowner, prioritizing their family's health, became concerned about potential radon exposure after learning about its risks. Radon gas testing conducted in their newly built home with a basement revealed a level of 4.1 pCi/L, exceeding the EPA's recommended action level for safe indoor air quality. This necessitated radon mitigation to address the elevated radon levels.

Why They Chose Maine Radon & Water Treatment:

The client was impressed with Maine Radon's responsiveness and ability to work with existing systems. Faced with needing a radon mitigation solution, the homeowner likely sought a qualified company with experience. Maine Radon & Water Treatment's prompt service and expertise in optimizing existing systems likely appealed to the homeowner.

What's Causing the Problem:

The presence of radon gas in the surrounding soil is the culprit. This naturally occurring gas can seep into homes through cracks in the foundation or basement, accumulating to dangerous levels if left unchecked. Radon mitigation is designed to address these potential entry points and remove radon gas before it reaches harmful concentrations.

How We Fixed the Problem (Mitigation Process):

Maine Radon & Water Treatment addressed the homeowner's concerns with a customized approach:

  1. Expert Evaluation: Qualified radon inspectors conducted a thorough inspection to assess the existing radon system and identify any potential issues.
  2. Optimizing the Passive System: The inspection revealed an existing passive radon system with accessible radon piping venting through the roof. To enhance its effectiveness, Maine Radon recommended activating the system with a radon fan.
  3. Collaboration for Success: The homeowner's electrician was involved in installing a dedicated outlet to power the radon fan. This collaborative approach ensured a functional and safe electrical connection.
  4. Installation and Monitoring: Our team efficiently installed the radon fan, transforming the passive system into a complete radon mitigation system. A manometer was strategically placed to monitor the negative pressure created by the system, a crucial indicator of proper radon removal.
  5. Verification and Peace of Mind: Following installation, the homeowner received a follow-up radon testing kit to confirm the system's effectiveness and provide long-term peace of mind regarding indoor air quality.

Client's Feedback:

The client was satisfied with Maine Radon and Water Treatment as they were able to adapt with the existing system.

A Bridgton, Maine homeowner suspected elevated radon levels in their new home due to an unfinished radon system. Though the house had pipes suggestive of a radon mitigation system, they were unaware of its function for two years. Testing confirmed their concerns, revealing a worrying radon level of 13.7 pCi/L, exceeding safe limits. This prompted the need for a functional radon mitigation system to address the dangerous radon gas levels.

Why They Chose Maine Radon & Water Treatment:

The client was impressed with Maine Radon & Water Treatment's comprehensive approach and client-centered solutions. 2. Client-Centered Options: Understanding the homeowner's preference, they provided a quote for completing the exterior run of the existing system (passive approach). However, further inspection revealed the existing system wouldn't be suitable (explain the reason if possible).
  3. Exterior Radon Mitigation System Installation: Prioritizing the homeowner's safety, Maine Radon & Water Treatment installed a new exterior radon mitigation system. This involved strategically placing a pipe in the basement slab, connecting existing pipes whenever possible, and adding new piping for a complete system.
  4. Radon Fan and Manometer Installation: A powerful yet energy-efficient radon fan was installed to continuously draw radon gas out of the home. A manometer was strategically placed to monitor the system's suction power for ongoing optimization.
  5. Post-Installation Testing: Following installation, a fresh radon test kit verified the system's effectiveness, ensuring a significant reduction in radon levels.
